Psychotherapy FAQ
If you don't find the answer you are looking for, don't hesitate to contact me.
Where are you based?
I am based near Godalming, working from my home.
How often do we meet?
I provide sessions on a weekly basis (or suitable alternative) for 50 minutes per session.
How much does it cost?
I charge £70 per session payable each session dependent on your circumstances.
What times are you available?
Please give me a call or drop me an email to enquire about latest availability
How many sessions will we have?
We will meet for an initial assessment. On agreeing to work together, we will begin with committing to five further sessions before reviewing as to whether more long-term, open-ended work might be helpful for you.
How do I contact you?
For our initial contact, ring me on 07506 675115, or email me on [email protected]. Once we have begun working together, unless in an emergency, please contact me to inform me of cancellation or lateness.
What if I miss a session for any reason?
Once we agree to work together, the agreed session time will be kept available. To enable me to provide you with the best service possible I do charge for missed sessions. However, If you provide me more than 14 days notice for any missed session, we may agree on a reduced session rate.
What if you, as my Therapist, miss a session?
I will provide you with as much notice as possible. I tend to take a small amount of time off at Christmas, Easter and during the Summer. Sessions missed due to my absence will not be chargeable.
How do we end therapy?
In the normal course of events you are likely know when you are ready to finish therapy. You are not tied to therapy and may end at any time you wish. However, advance notice of two weeks is required to ensure that we can round off our work and end in a safe manner. For long term clients, we may agree on a longer ending time due to the depth of the relationship that often forms.
What if you are not the right Therapist for me?
A good therapeutic relationship is paramount. If for any reason you do not feel you wish to work with me, then I will do my best to recommend you someone who might be more suited to your specific needs or character.
Is everything 100% confidential?
The content of our sessions is confidential, although I will need to discuss our work with my supervisor. This is standard practice and your identity is not revealed. In exceptional circumstances, where there is convincing evidence that you intend to harm yourself or others, I will inform you of my need to break confidentiality before contacting the relevant authority. I would be liable to civil or court procedure if such information was not disclosed.
I make brief notes after each session in which you will be unidentifiable. These will be securely stored, and destroyed after one year.
